  • Where are you from and how long have you been in Mumbai?

I'm born and brought up in Mumbai and have lived here all my life.

  • What is your take on the city?

I love the fact that Mumbai is an amazingly energetic city, which gives opportunities and shelter to people from all over India. I love the calming sea; the trains that are the lifeline of the city, the street food culture, and the maidans where every school kid has played cricket and so many other aspects that are an intrinsic part of the Mumbai experience.

  • What do you think about the people in here?

People of Bombay are optimists. In spite of all the hardships that a common man goes through in this city, they dream of a better future and are extremely positive about change. The enthusiasm of life is contagious and keeps Mumbai going.

  • What would you change about the city?

Basic facilities such as toilets aren't available to a regular person on the street. The number of times one needs to walk into a coffee shop or a mall to just use the toilets says a lot about the dismal state of the common facilities in the city. Open spaces seem like a luxury in a city where the lack of political will is an impediment to progress. I also feel public transport needs a lot of improvement to have Mumbai on par with other global cities.

Recommend a must-visit place for all visitors to Mumbai?

The gateway of India is the monument that gives the visitors a glimpse into the history and evolution of the city. From being a conglomeration of 7 islands, it's grown to one of the largest cities in the world with a population of more that 21 million people.  That's one place I would recommend to people who visit this great city.
